The invention provides an automatic storage pond and a construction method thereof. The automatic storage pond comprises a storage pond cavity, a flowing groove and a shaft. The storage pond cavity isformed underground. The flowing groove is formed in the bottom of the storage pond cavity. The shaft is located on the upper portion of the storage pond and communicates with the storage pond and theground. The flowing groove communicates with other well bodies through pipelines. According to the automatic storage pond, the liquid potential energy and kinetic energy conversion theory of municipal drainage pipelines is utilized, when the overflow risk is generated in a downstream drainage pipeline, dammed water is generated in the upstream of the pipeline, kinetic energy of the liquid in thepipeline is conversed into potential energy, the water level rises, and the storage pond is automatically filled; and when the downstream drainage pipeline is clear, the liquid in the storage pond converses potential energy into kinetic energy by means of action of gravity, the water flows away automatically through the flowing groove, the automatic storage function is achieved, rainwater is drained according to staggered shifts, and the situation that the liquid in the drainage pipelines overflows to the ground, and personal and property loss and drowning accidents are caused is avoided.
