The invention discloses a shock absorption device for a building. The shock absorption device comprises a top plate, a support plate and a shock absorption box. A plurality of threaded screw rods arefixedly connected to the lower portion of the support plate at equal intervals. The threaded screw rods sequentially movably penetrate through first gears, first rotary mechanisms, first transverse shock absorption barrels and partitions. Second gears are connected between the adjacent first gears in a meshing mode. Reverse rods sequentially movably penetrate through the second gears, second rotary mechanisms, second transverse shock absorption barrels and partitions. Struts movably penetrate through sliding parts. Transverse shock absorbers are movably arranged between the adjacent struts andthe threaded screw rods. Through the shock absorption device, double absorption to transverse shock and longitudinal shock can be achieved, part of impact energy applied to the building is returned to the building, recovery of the building is quickened after the shock, meanwhile, the transverse shock absorbers are obliquely arranged between the struts and the threaded screw rods, cooperation of longitudinal shock absorption and transverse shock absorption is enhanced, and the shock absorption device is well worth popularizing.
