The invention provides correcting equipment used for box type steel column mounting and a correcting method of the correcting equipment. The equipment comprises a column hoop used for arranged on a box type steel column in a hooping manner, multiple sets of rotating devices, multiple light reflecting parts and a controller. Containing space is formed in the column hoop, and multiple vertical shaftholes are formed in the periphery of the top of the column hoop. The rotating devices comprise rotating shafts rotationally mounted in the vertical shaft holes and drive motors mounted in the containing space, and the drive motors are in transmission connection to the lower ends of the rotating shafts. The light reflecting parts are vertically arrange above the vertical shaft holes and are connected to the upper ends of the rotating shafts. The controller is in signal connection to the drive motors of the multiple sets of rotating devices. The problems that in traditional steel column mounting, total station reflective stickers need to be adjusted manually, and then the mounting efficiency of steel columns is low are solved.
