The invention relates to a building expansion joint and a construction process thereof. The building expansion joint comprises a plurality of wallboards. The expansion joint is formed between the adjacent wallboards. The wallboards are provided with mounting grooves communicating with the expansion joint. A cover plate is arranged between the adjacent mounting grooves. Elastic expansion blocks arefixed between the sidewalls of the cover plate and the sidewalls of the mounting grooves. The upper surfaces of the adjacent wallboards are both provided with clamping grooves. Pressing plates are inserted in the clamping grooves. The top ends of the pressing plates extend out of the clamping grooves and horizontally extend to the upper surface of the cover plate. The pressing plates cover the elastic expansion blocks. The sidewalls, extending into the clamping grooves, of the pressing plates are provided with a plurality of reserved grooves. Reserved blocks are slidably connected to the interiors of the reserved grooves. A plurality of elastic parts are fixed between the reserved blocks and the reserved grooves. When the pressing plates are inserted into the clamping grooves, the reserved blocks are squeezed by the clamping grooves to completely go into the corresponding reserved grooves. The inner sidewalls of the reserved grooves are provided with a plurality of locating grooves allowing the reserved blocks to be inserted in. The building expansion joint has the effect that the safety of the expansion joint is improved.
