The invention relates to a method for transferring a motor vehicle (10) to an automatic parking system (1) which is designed to transfer the motor vehicle (10) to a free parking space (14) of the parking system (1) without a driver. The parking system (1) transmits a release code (C) to the motor vehicle (10), said release code being output in the motor vehicle (10) so as to be perceivable to a motor vehicle user (26). After leaving the motor vehicle (10), the motor vehicle user (26) transmits the release code (C) to the parking system (1) in order to grant a drive release. As soon as the drive release is granted, the motor vehicle (10) is transferred to the free parking space (14) of the parking system (1) without the driver. The invention additionally relates to an automatic parking system (1) and to a motor vehicle (10) for carrying out the method.
