The invention provides a wharf fender extending method for a ship. The method comprises the following steps that 1, a wharf protection device, a wharf fender extending device and rigging are manufactured; 2, the wharf protection device is fastened to a boss at the bottom of a bollard on a wharf; 3, the wharf fender extending device is vertically lifted, a wharf fender is placed into a clamping groove in the lower portion of the wharf fender extending device, and the wharf fender extending device is hung on the bollard of the wharf through the rigging; 4, anchors are arranged; 5, the anchors onthe wharf fender extending device are connected with safety rings on the wharf; and 6, anti-sinking blocks are arranged, one end of each anti-sinking block is welded in a steel groove in the top of arear frame, and the other end of each anti-sinking block is placed on the upper portion of the wharf fender. According to the method, the problem of interference between hoisting equipment and a binding bridge on the ship during outfitting of the container ship in the wharf can be solved, collision accidents of the hoisting equipment and the binding bridge on the ship are avoided, and the safetyof outfitting of the container ship in the wharf is ensured.
