The invention discloses a chrome corundum material which comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 6%-15% of Al2O3, 85%-90% of Cr2O3 and 3%-5% of ZrO2. The production method comprisesthe steps of uniformly mixing the raw materials including chromium oxide green, aluminum oxide, compact zirconium oxide and aluminum fluoride; smelting at high temperature; conducting cooling; and crushing, granulating and screening out the chrome corundum material. According to the invention, the added compact zirconium oxide, aluminum oxide and chromium oxide green are smelted and cooled in an electric arc furnace to form a solid solution of ZrO2, Al2O3 and Cr2O3. Compared with a traditional high-chromium brick made of fused chromium oxide, white corundum, zirconium oxide and the like, the situation that ZrO2 cannot form a continuous solid solution with Al2O3 and Cr2O3, the crystalline phase of ZrO2 changes in the temperature changing process, and the quality of refractory products is affected is avoided.
