The invention relates to the field of bridge engineering, and particularly discloses a multi-section type energy dissipation horizontal swing pier which comprises a support and a pier body. The pier body comprises a supporting pier and a plurality of subsection piers, the supporting pier and the subsection piers are hollow structures, and the lowermost subsection pier is fixedly connected with thesupporting pier. A circular ladder groove is formed in the upper end of each subsection pier, a cylindrical limiting cylinder is arranged at the lower end of each subsection pier, the diameter of each limiting cylinder is smaller than the inner diameter of the corresponding circular ladder groove, the subsection piers are overlapped up and down, and the uppermost subsection pier can support the support. The invention aims to solve the technical problem that an existing ductile design causes more serious damage to the bridge under the action of a strong earthquake.
