The invention provides a virtual barrier gate system and a control method of a virtual barrier gate. The virtual barrier gate system comprises a control device and a holographic projection device connected with the control device. The control device is configured to generate a first control signal based on a starting signal and send the first control signal to the holographic projection device; and the holographic projection device is configured to project a three-dimensional holographic image with a specified shape to a preset position as a virtual barrier gate according to the first controlsignal. The virtual barrier gate is obtained by virtualizing the solid barrier gate into the air holographic projection image through the air holographic projection technology, the technological content is high, mechanical faults are not likely to happen, the event that the barrier gate smashes vehicles or hurts pedestrians cannot happen, guarding of specially-assigned persons is not needed, and therefore the safety of the barrier gate is improved, and the labor cost is reduced. Moreover, the specified shapes of the three-dimensional holographic images of the virtual barrier gate can be presetand have various forms, so that the virtual barrier gate can be used in different application places, and the adaptability of the virtual barrier gate is enhanced.
