The invention relates to a crawler excavator which comprises a crawler chassis (10), a slewing bearing and a slewing platform (20), wherein the slewing platform (20) is rotatably mounted on the crawler chassis (10) through the slewing bearing; and the rotating diameter of the slewing platform (20) relative to the crawler chassis (10) is smaller than or equal to the length of the crawler chassis (10) in the advancing direction. According to the crawler excavator, the rotating diameter of the slewing platform relative to the crawler chassis is smaller than or equal to the length of the crawler chassis in the advancing direction, the slewing diameter of the slewing platform is effectively reduced, and operation of the excavator in a narrow space is facilitated.
