The crawler excavator comprises a main support, a power system, a hydraulic system and an excavating arm, the power system, the hydraulic system and the excavating arm are installed on the main support, and the hydraulic system provides energy for the power system and the excavating arm; the power system comprises two groups of track units, each group of track unit comprises a driving device, a track and a pressure adjusting mechanism, the driving device drives the track to rotate, the pressure adjusting mechanism comprises a pressure applying device, a lifting pressure plate and a plurality of ground nails arranged along the inner wall of the track, and the ground nails are connected with the inner wall of the track through springs; when the pressure applying device drives the lifting pressure plate to press down the ground nails below, the nail feet of the ground nails can penetrate through the holes of the crawler belt to make contact with the ground. Compared with the prior art, the device has the advantages that the pattern depth of the crawler chain is changed by controlling the expansion and contraction of the pegs through the pressure applying device, and unnecessary abrasion and workload of replacing the type of the crawler chain when the crawler is not matched with the terrain are reduced. In addition, a hydraulic system is used as a power system, and high efficiency and high precision are achieved.
