The invention provides a preparation method of a high-density ceramic fiberboard, which comprises the following steps: A) mixing water, an inorganic binding agent, a dispersing agent, a surfactant andan infrared opacifying agent to obtain a suspension, pulping the ceramic fibers, and mixing the pulped ceramic fibers with a refractory filler and a filter aid to obtain slurry; b) mixing the suspension with the slurry to obtain slurry; and C) molding and pressing the slurry to obtain the high-density ceramic fiberboard. The invention further provides the high-density ceramic fiber board. The density of the high-density ceramic fiberboard added with the infrared opacifying agent is 600-1000 kg/m3, and the high-density ceramic fiberboard can be used in the field of heat preservation and insulation, is particularly suitable for heat preservation and insulation of a fire facing surface at a high temperature, has the advantages of high strength, compressive strength of 12 MPa and low heat conductivity coefficient, and has an average heat conductivity coefficient of less than 0.125 W/(m.k)@700 DEG C.
