The invention relates to a positioning device and an installation method of a steel structure net rack. The positioning device comprises a supporting frame, an adjusting mechanism, a fixing seat and apositioning plate. The adjusting mechanism is slidably connected with the supporting frame, the fixing seat is arranged at the top end of the adjusting mechanism, and the positioning plate is detachably connected with the side, deviating from the adjusting mechanism, of the fixing seat. The adjusting mechanism is used for adjusting the position of the positioning plate; and the positioning plateis used for determining the position of a bolt sphere. According to the positioning device, the construction efficiency of steel structure net rack installation is improved, the construction period ofthe steel structure net rack is shortened, and the construction cost is reduced; and meanwhile, the installation precision and the installation quality of the steel structure net rack are improved.
