The invention discloses an excavator operated by a gesture controller. The excavator comprises an excavator body and a gesture controller; a control processor is arranged on the excavator body, and the control processor is connected with a hydraulic control system on the excavator body; the gesture controller is in a glove type and comprises a main glove body and five finger glove bodies communicated with the main glove body, the main glove body is provided with an acceleration sensor and a signal receiving and transmitting device, the finger glove bodies are provided with bending sensors, and the acceleration sensor and the bending sensors are electrically connected with the signal receiving and transmitting device. The signal receiving and transmitting device is wirelessly connected with the control processor; and a prompting device is arranged on the gesture controller and is in wireless connection with the control processor. The problem that an existing excavator does not have a remote control construction function is solved, convenience is brought to the mining work of the excavator, the construction operation difficulty is reduced, and the safety of constructors is protected.
