The invention discloses a large rectangular water stop groove machining method and a gate groove seat ring of a tail water emergency gate. The large rectangular water stop groove machining method comprises the following steps that firstly, a three-edge milling cutter of phi 16.5mm is selected and clamped on a milling machine through a clamp tool; secondly, after clamping is completed, a water stop groove of a workpiece is machined through the milling machine, the cutter is fed by 2mm every time, and five circles are milled, so that the depth of the groove reaches 10mm; thirdly, a three-edge milling cutter of phi 17.5mm is selected to replace the three-edge milling cutter of phi 16.5mm originally located on the clamp tool of the milling machine, and cutter changing machining is conducted; and finally, after cutter changing is completed, the center line of the three-edge milling cutter is aligned with the center line of the water stop groove, the water stop groove is milled by one circle again, the depth and the width are increased, when the three-edge milling cutter of phi 17.5mm is adopted for machining the water stop groove, complete and continuous machining is needed, and the milling machine cannot be stopped in the midway. The machining method has the beneficial effect of being high in machining size precision, and then the sealing effect of the gate groove seat ring of the tail water emergency gate is improved.
