The vertical water stop structure comprises a horizontal red copper water stop, a first expansion joint layer, a plastic packing layer, a second expansion joint layer, a rubber water stop and a third expansion joint layer from top to bottom, and is characterized by further comprising an L-shaped water stop connecting piece, wherein the L-shaped water stop connecting piece is located on the horizontal red copper water stop and fixedly connected with the horizontal red copper water stop. The vertical L-shaped water stop connecting piece is additionally arranged at the bottom of the gate groove in the water flow direction, so that water flow is effectively prevented from forming a channel in the water flow direction, and the problem that water leaks from the upper portion of the horizontal water stop under water pressure after water is stored in a water gate is solved.
