The invention relates to foamed ceramic prepared by using polishing mud as a base material and a preparation method thereof, the foamed ceramic is formed by stacking and sintering a plurality of sheets, the base materials of the sheets are the polishing mud, a foam stabilizer containing alumina and expanded perlite micro powder, a sheet binder is arranged between the sheets, and the sheet binder comprises perlite powder. According to the foamed ceramic, a plurality of sheets are mutually overlapped to form a blank through a blank binding agent, the blank is put into a kiln for naked blank firing, the blank binding agent promotes mutual reaction of the sheets at a high temperature, the sheets form an integral structure, and the foaming ceramic is uniformly expanded and kept in a certain shape in the foaming process by utilizing the foam stabilizer; the collapse caused by huge deformation of the foamed ceramic green body in the foaming process is prevented, and the high-temperature foaming of the foamed ceramic under the condition of no mold frame is met.
