The invention discloses a river block embankment for a plain river channel and a construction method of the river block embankment. The river block embankment comprises an embankment body, wherein two parallel limiting grooves are symmetrically formed in the top face of the embankment body, water retaining mechanisms are arranged in the limiting grooves, embankment corner reinforcing mechanisms and slope surface reinforcing mechanisms are symmetrically arranged on the two sides of the embankment body, the slope surface reinforcing mechanisms are located above the embankment corner reinforcing mechanisms, and expansion water stop strips are arranged between the slope surface reinforcing mechanisms and the embankment corner reinforcing mechanisms. The method comprises the following steps of 1) constructing the embankment body; 2) constructing the water retaining mechanisms; 3) constructing the embankment corner reinforcing mechanisms; 4) constructing the slope surface reinforcing mechanisms; and 5) trail operation of the embankment. Through the design of the water retaining mechanisms, flood can be blocked, the safety and reliability of driving on the embankment are improved, normal travelling of vehicles in the flood season is guaranteed, and a life channel is provided for flood prevention and emergency rescue.
