The invention discloses a ship lock and method for a lifting ship without mechanical power. The ship lock comprises a water sump A and a water sump B which are formed by excavating a mountain; concrete is poured on the four sides of the water sump A and the water sump B to form concrete protective walls, a water tank used for storing water is arranged between the water sump A and the water sump B, and the sides, close to the shoreline of a high-water-level area, of the water sump A and the water sump B are designed to be slopes; water and ship inlet lock plates are arranged on the upper portions, close to the shoreline side of the high-water-level area, of the water sump A and the water sump B, water drainage gate plates are arranged on the bottoms, close to the shoreline side of a low-water-level area, of the water sump A and the water sump B, and a bottom tunnel is formed in a mountain body on the side and communicated with the low-water-level area. The side pressure is resisted by means of the mountain body, upstream and downstream ship passing can be completed without large machines, electrical equipment and mechanical power, the ship is lifted and descended completely by means of water buoyancy, and a ship reception chamber for stopping the ship does not need to be arranged in the ship lock.
