The invention discloses a drinking water supply system for urban residents, wherein the system comprises a water plant, an urban water system, a residential building and a water softener, and the water plant, a booster pump station, a water quality treatment station, a secondary booster station, the urban water system and a sewage sedimentation treatment pond are connected with one another; the urban water system is composed of a water inlet pipe, a flow dividing pipe, the residential building and a water discharging pipe; the water quality treatment station is composed of a medium filter, a water softener, a precision filter and a water tank; and the water tank is connected with the water softener and the precision filter through a backflow pipe, and the controller is partially mounted in the water tank in a penetrating mode.
