The invention discloses a polycarboxylic acid water reducer, which comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 70-90 parts of methyl allyl polyoxyethylene ether, 5-12 parts of acrylic acid, 1-2 parts of an initiator, 0.1-0.3 part of a reducing agent, 2-4 parts of a chain transfer agent, 2-5 parts of a pH regulator and 130-150 parts of water. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the polycarboxylic acid water reducer and an application of the polycarboxylic acid water reducer in Portland cement or concrete taking the Portland cement as a cementing material. The polycarboxylic acid water reducer disclosed by the invention has high dispersion and high slump loss performance, and can solve the problems of slump inverse growth and even bleeding of concrete on some construction sites.
