The invention provides a method for preparing a porous mullite brick from secondary aluminum ash, and particularly relates to the technical field of secondary aluminum ash treatment. The method comprises the following steps: adding the secondary aluminum ash into water and evenly mixing, and preparing a mixed solution; filtering the mixed solution to obtain filter residues, and washing and drying the filter residues to obtain secondary aluminum ash pretreatment powder; uniformly mixing the secondary aluminum ash pretreatment powder, clay clinker, alpha-Al2O3 and carbonized rice husk, adding water and sodium polyacrylate, and stirring to obtain a pug; then adding foam prepared from a foaming agent and a binding agent into the pug, and stirring to obtain foam slurry; carrying out casting molding on the foam slurry, drying, demolding, and then carrying out drying treatment; and finally, carrying out heat treatment in an air atmosphere to prepare the porous mullite brick. According to the invention, the utilization rate of the secondary aluminum ash is high, the production cost is low, the production process is simple and harmless to the environment, and the prepared porous mullite has relatively high compressive strength, relatively low volume density and small heat conductivity coefficient.
