The invention provides a method for preparing porous mullite aggregate by using secondary aluminum ash, and particularly relates to the technical field of secondary aluminum ash treatment. The method comprises the steps of adding the secondary aluminum ash into water to prepare a mixed solution, filtering the mixed solution, and washing and drying filter residues to obtain secondary aluminum ash pretreatment powder, uniformly mixing the secondary aluminum ash pretreatment powder, carbonized rice husks and SiO2 micro powder, and adding water to prepare pug, adding foam prepared from a foaming agent into the pug, and stirring to obtain foam slurry, then uniformly mixing the secondary aluminum ash pretreatment powder and SiO2 micro powder, and adding the foam slurry to prepare porous prefabricated particles, and finally, drying the porous prefabricated particles, and performing heat treatment in an air atmosphere to obtain the porous mullite aggregate. The secondary aluminum ash utilization rate is high, the production cost is low, the production process is simple, and the prepared porous mullite aggregate is small in volume density and high in cylinder compressive strength.
