The invention relates to the technical field of bridge engineering, in particular to a construction method for reserving a bridge expansion joint, which comprises the following steps of: filling a gap between a first box girder and a second box girder with a rubber foaming plate, performing a bridge floor reinforced concrete construction process, and forming a reserved notch above the first box girder and the second box girder; then laying isolation layers on the bottom and the side wall of the reserved notch, after a sand cushion layer is formed in the reserved notch, carrying out paving and rolling of an asphalt surface layer according to requirements, then cutting along the reserved notch through a concrete cutting machine, cleaning the reserved notch after cutting, and therefore creating conditions for bridge expansion joint installation. The construction method is simple, high in efficiency, low in construction cost and capable of meeting the operation requirements of continuously paving asphalt and ensuring the rolling compaction degree.
