The invention provides a planting method for arranging a transparent breathable balcony surface on thick soil of a whole balcony of a building. The planting method comprises the steps that the balcony is thickened, a groove with the depth of 30-120 cm is formed in the balcony, the groove is subjected to heat preservation, water prevention and drainage, then fertile soil is filled, a fence of a metal handrail or a glass fence is arranged on the groove, and transparent and breathable ground rollers are laid on the balcony surface. The soil arranged on the balcony is thick, plants can grow more roots, the whole balcony can be used for planting the plants, high-stem plants are planted outside the fence, short vegetables, flowers and lawns can be planted below the ground rollers of the balcony, soil turning planting can be achieved, free combination can be achieved, other crops can be planted by taking off the ground rollers, and the purpose that thick soil planting is equivalent to field planting is achieved. Various plants can be conveniently planted on the balcony, and people can feel the environment where green plants grow on the balcony.
