The gypsum-based thermal insulation mortar per cubic meter is prepared from the following raw materials: 60-90 kg of hydrophobic modified expanded perlite, 150-350 kg of gypsum-steel slag composite gel, 1.5-5 kg of a water reducing agent, 0.5-5 kg of a retarder, 0.5-6 kg of a waterproof agent, 1-5 kg of a thickening agent and 130-200 kg of water. The prepared gypsum-based thermal insulation mortar is large in size and light in weight, the phenomenon that materials are separated from a wall panel due to shrinkage after being dried can be avoided, what is guaranteed is that a wall is tightly attached to the wall panel, and the comprehensive bearing capacity of the wall is improved; meanwhile, the gypsum-based thermal insulation mortar has good volume stability, thermal insulation performance and water resistance, and can replace thermal insulation mortar to be used for building thermal insulation.
