The invention relates to a maleic anhydride grafted polycarboxylic acid type ultra-high performance water reducing agent which is prepared by the following steps: weighing 1000 parts of polyethylene glycol 1200, dissolving in a water bath, adding the above into a reaction kettle, simultaneously adding 900-1100 parts of methacrylic acid, 6-8 parts of hydroquinone and 1-2 parts of copper naphthenate, heating to 90-100 DEG C, adding 50-80 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid, continuously heating to 120 DEG C, keeping for 3-4 hours, then filling nitrogen for 1-2 hours to finish the reaction, and obtaining polyethylene glycol monomethacrylate. According to the invention, reaction is simple and sufficient, the flow is constant, and the production cost and the environmental pollution are reduced; and the produced maleic anhydride grafted polycarboxylic acid type ultra-high-performance water reducing agent is good in neat paste fluidity, good in slump loss resistance and very convenient to use.
