The invention relates to an oversized electric door and a mounting method. The electric door comprises a top supporting frame mounted at the top of a door opening, an upper track mounted on the top supporting frame, retaining walls vertically arranged at the side part of the door opening, wherein a doorway is formed between the two retaining walls, a lower track mounted at the bottom of the door opening, a door body with the bottom arranged on the lower track through a walking wheel in a sliding mode and the top arranged on the upper track in a sliding mode, a driving motor arranged on the door body and in driving connection with the walking wheel, a windproof column vertically arranged at the side part of the door opening, and a buffer plate mounted on the windproof column and corresponding to the door body. According to the electric door, firm and stable support is formed on the inner side of the door opening through the arranged top supporting frame and the retaining walls, and a stable and reliable mounting foundation is provided for mounting of the door body; and the windproof column is arranged on the side part of the door opening, the strength of the side part of the door opening is enhanced, and the buffer plate is arranged on the windproof column so that the opened door body can be limited, buffered and blocked.
