The invention discloses a buffering energy dissipater for a side slope flexible protection system. The buffering energy dissipater comprises a first steel wire rope, a second steel wire rope, a buffering device and a rod type energy dissipation device; the buffering device comprises at least two springs, a first base plate and a second base plate, the two ends of the springs are fixedly connected to one side surface of the first base plate and one side surface of the second base plate respectively, a lug plate is arranged on the other side surface, opposite to the springs, of the first base plate, and the first steel wire rope is wound and fixed to the lug plate; one end of the rod type energy dissipation device is fixedly connected to the side surface, opposite to the springs, of the second base plate, and the other end of the rod type energy dissipation device is connected with the second steel wire rope. The brake effect problem which cannot be solved by an existing pressure reducing ring and an existing rod type energy dissipation device is solved, and the problem that the steel wire ropes are damaged due to the fact that an existing energy dissipation device cannot limit the peak value of the internal force of the steel wire ropes is effectively solved through the rod type energy dissipation device.
