The invention discloses a preparation method of hydrophilic graphite for a carbon-containing refractory material. The preparation method comprises the following steps: adding fine magnesia powder into water, and conducting pre-stirring to obtain a mixture A; adding the mixture A into a V-shaped stirrer, and adding graphite, a dispersing agent and water to obtain a mixture B; adding a binder into the mixture B, and performing pelletizing by using a pelletizer or pressing the mixture B into bricks by using a brick press; and baking prepared balls or brick bodies to obtain a mixture C. According to the invention, a process is simple and easy to control, a production period is short, cost is low, and a preparation process is environment-friendly; Mg(OH)2 sol is generated after magnesia fine powder is hydrolyzed, the Mg(OH)2 sol is efficiently stirred to wrap a graphite surface, then forming and baking are conducted so as to dehydrate a sol wrapping layer, so graphite surface modification by nanoscale magnesium oxide is achieved, and the hydrophilicity of graphite or the bonding strength of graphite and other inorganic materials is enhanced; and therefore, the purpose of improving the dilutability, wettability, dispersity and flowability of existing graphite products and water or oil is achieved.
