The invention discloses a garbage collector for a hydropower station reservoir area. The garbage collector comprises a funnel, a hoisting assembly and a water pump. A filter screen is arranged in the bottom of the funnel, and a top opening of the funnel is arranged under the water surface when the funnel works; the hoisting end of the hoisting assembly is connected with the funnel; and a water inlet of the water pump communicates with the bottom end of the funnel. According to the garbage collector, the filter screen is arranged at the bottom of the funnel, the funnel is connected with the water pump, garbage is sucked into the funnel through suction force of the water pump and is separated from water, and garbage gathering is completed; control over the horizontal position and the vertical height of the funnel is achieved through the hoisting assembly, the funnel can be located at the underwater garbage collection position, the collected garbage can be hoisted to the designated garbage storage position to be released, and the whole garbage collection process is completed; and different from comparison files, the garbage collector can collect garbage of various sizes and is wide in action range.
