The invention discloses inert steel slag micro-powder particles and a preparation method thereof. The inert steel slag micro-powder particles comprise the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1000 parts of steel slag particles, 15-25 parts of a sodium silicate binder and 0.4-0.8 parts of epoxy resin coating liquid. The raw materials for preparing the steel slag micropowder particles do not need to reach the specific surface area of 600-750 m < 2 >/kg, and a fine grinding procedure can be omitted in the production process link. The number of selectable equipment in the pre-grinding process is increased, and equipment investment and energy can be saved. The utilization mode of the steel slag micro-powder particles is changed from chemical component utilization to physical utilization, high-activity steel slag does not need to be specially selected, inert components of an RO phase do not need to be screened out, and utilization of low-activity steel slag is facilitated.
