The invention discloses a method for treating a mixture of laterite-nickel ore leaching residues and jarosite residues and application. The method comprises the following steps of: granulating the jarosite residues, drying, performing primary roasting, adding a reducing agent, and performing secondary roasting to obtain pellets containing metal simple substances; and performing water quenching, ball milling and magnetic separation on the pellets containing the metal simple substances to obtain iron, nickel and silicon-magnesium residue slurry. According to the method, the jarosite residues generated by laterite-nickel ore sulfuric acid normal-pressure leaching and iron removal by a jarosite method are fully utilized, Fe2O3 formed after decomposition is reduced by using pulverized coal by utilizing the characteristic that the jarosite residues are easy to decompose at high temperature, valuable metals such as iron and nickel are recovered by utilizing a water quenching, ball milling and magnetic separation process, and the jarosite residues are decomposed into silicon-magnesium residues with stable properties at high temperature, so that harmless treatment of the jarosite residues is realized, and the problem of treatment of tailings generated by low-grade laterite-nickel ore normal-pressure sulfuric acid leaching and the jarosite residues generated by iron removal is solved.
