The invention discloses a self-resetting beam column energy dissipation connecting piece and a construction method thereof. The self-resetting beam column energy dissipation connecting piece comprises a column side end plate, the column side end plate and a beam side end plate are vertically arranged at a beam column joint in parallel, and connecting profile steel is fixedly arranged between the column side end plate and the beam side end plate; two energy dissipation units are symmetrically arranged on the upper side and the lower side of the connecting profile steel; a shear-resistant piece and a prestressed tendon are arranged between the beam side end plate and the beam end of a prefabricated beam, one end of the shear-resistant piece is fixedly connected with the beam side end plate, and the other end of the shear-resistant piece extends into the beam end of the prefabricated beam; one end of the prestressed tendon is fixedly inserted into the prefabricated beam; and the other ends of the prestressed tendons penetrate through the beam side end plates and then are anchored on the beam side end plates through bolts. The prestressed tendons are anchored with the beam end plates of the beam column energy dissipation connecting piece, so that the prestressed tendons can be tensioned in a prefabrication factory, and the self-resetting capability of a component is ensured to the maximum extent; and the shear-resistant pieces can share shear force and bending moment borne by the prestressed tendons, and stress loss caused by deformation of the energy dissipation connecting pieces is weakened.
