The invention discloses concrete for external wall thermal insulation, and relates to the technical field of building materials. The concrete is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 120 to 180 parts of cement, 80 to 100 parts of water, 30 to 40 parts of a heat preservation improver, 10 to 20 parts of glass fiber, 2 to 5 parts of a polycarboxylic acid type water reducing agent and 1 to 3 parts of a dispersing agent, the preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) preparing the cement, the water, the thermal insulation improver, the glass fiber, the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent and the dispersing agent, and putting into a warehouse for later use; (2) transferring the raw materials in the step (1) into a stirrer for stirring and mixing, and pouring into a mold; and (3) curing the concrete in the mold in the step (2). The thermal insulation improver is introduced, so that a remarkable thermal insulation effect can be achieved, and the compressive strength and the tensile strength of the concrete are improved.
