The invention discloses a construction method for newly building an underground space below an existing pier. The existing pier supports a bridge. The construction method comprises the following steps that fender posts of a foundation pit of the underground space serve as pile foundations of auxiliary piers to construct the auxiliary piers; the load of the existing pier is transferred to the auxiliary piers; the existing pier is broken; and the underground space is constructed. According to the technical scheme of the construction method for newly building an underground space below the existing pier, the technical problem that in the prior art, the auxiliary piers are low in safety is solved.
