The invention belongs to the technical field of powder material preparation, and particularly relates to a process for preparing rod-like zirconium boride powder at low temperature, which comprises the following specific steps: material selection: selecting a boron-containing compound and a zirconium-containing compound, then pouring the two compounds into a container according to a ratio of 1:1, and mixing and stirring the two compounds by using a mixing and stirring device to obtain a mixture containing boron and zirconium; processing of a compound containing boron and zirconium: pouring a mixture containing boron and zirconium into a container, adding excessive chloride molten salt, fully mixing and stirring the material for 8-10 minutes by using a stirring device, heating the material by using a heating device while stirring, and keeping the temperature of the heating device at 30-40 DEG C to prepare the compound containing boron and zirconium. According to the preparation method, the conversion rate of the zirconium boride powder is greatly improved, and the morphology of the powder cannot be damaged in the production and preparation process.
