The building material is prepared from the following components in percentage by mass: 73 to 85 percent of aeolian sand, 10 to 20 percent of light-burned magnesia, 4 to 8 percent of magnesium chloride, 0.2 to 0.5 percent of oxalic acid, 0.2 to 0.5 percent of trisodium phosphate and 2 to 5 percent of a water repellent agent. The material takes the aeolian sand as a main raw material, local materials are used, resources are reasonably utilized, and the construction cost is reduced; the raw materials are few in variety, easy to obtain and convenient and simple to manufacture; the strength of a test block prepared from the building material can reach the C30 concrete standard at normal temperature, and the test block can be normally used at the temperature as low as -26 DEG C.
