The invention discloses a sagger for a positive electrode material of a lithium ion battery, the sagger comprises a sagger body and an erosion-resistant layer, and the inner surface of the sagger body at least comprising a bottom surface is coated with the erosion-resistant layer; the sagger body is prepared from at least one of quartz, petalite, spodumene, eucryptite, zirconium tungstate, cordierite, lithium aluminate, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, magnesium oxide, magnesium aluminate spinel, zirconium silicate, forsterite, enstatite, mullite and silicon carbide. The erosion-resistant layer is prepared from at least one of quartz, zirconium tungstate, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, zirconium silicate, mullite and silicon carbide. According to the sagger, the sagger body and the erosion-resistant layer which are prepared from the specific preparation raw materials are adopted, so that the service life of the sagger is effectively prolonged. Meanwhile, the invention further provides a preparation method of the sagger, and the preparation method is simple in process and beneficial to industrial popularization.
