The invention provides a sagger for a positive electrode material of a lithium ion battery and a preparation method, and belongs to the field of refractory materials. The sagger comprises the following raw materials in percentage by mass: 65%-75% of kyanite, 0.5%-3% of potassium carbonate, 0.5%-2% of silicon dioxide, 1%-5% of industrial aluminum oxide, 12%-20% of tabular corundum and 4%-8% of active alpha-aluminum oxide. By reasonably designing the raw material composition of the sagger, a kyanite-KAlSi2O6 core-shell structure is constructed, and KAlSi2O6 coats the surfaces of kyanite particles, so that the contact between the positive electrode material and kyanite in the sagger is effectively prevented, and the erosion reaction is avoided; meanwhile, KAlSi2O6 has good sinterability and forms tight connection with a surrounding matrix at a high temperature, and the high-temperature mechanical property of the sagger is improved. Therefore, the erosion resistance and the high-temperature mechanical property of the sagger for the lithium ion battery positive electrode material are improved at the same time.
