The invention discloses a preparation method of a mullite sagger, and belongs to the technical field of mullite sagger production, the preparation method comprises the following steps: S1, preparation of aggregate: mixing mullite, cordierite and mullite to obtain the aggregate; s2, preparation of a base material: mixing alumina powder, zircon sand, magnesite powder and quartz powder to obtain the base material; s3, preparation of slurry: mixing water, a base material and a binding agent to obtain the slurry; s4, preparation of pug: mixing the slurry and aggregate, and treating by a kneading machine and a pug mill to obtain the pug; s5, forming: pouring the pug into a forming mold, and pressing to obtain a sagger; s6, drying, wherein the saggar is fed into a drying chamber to be dried; and S7, firing: feeding the dried saggar into a firing kiln, and firing to obtain the mullite saggar. The mullite sagger solves the problems that the mullite sagger is poor in high-temperature performance, thermal shock stability and erosion resistance, and powder and slag are prone to falling off.
