The invention discloses a solid waste storage yard covering and blocking structure utilizing modified GCL and a construction method. The solid waste storage yard covering and blocking structure comprises an impermeable layer, a protective layer, a drainage layer, an earthing supporting layer and a nutritional vegetation layer which are sequentially arranged on a leveling layer of a solid waste storage yard. The impermeable layer comprises a compacted clay layer and a modified GCL layer which are arranged from bottom to top, and clay used by the compacted clay layer is mixed with a silane solution; the modified GCL layer is composed of an upper-layer non-woven fabric, a lower-layer woven fabric and middle mixed powder, and the mixed powder comprises modified bentonite powder, rectorite powder, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and acrylonitrile-vinyl acetate resin powder. According to the method, migration and diffusion of pollutants (such as acid wastewater and heavy metal) between the pile body and the vegetation layer are effectively blocked, and recovery of the vegetation layer is effectively guaranteed.
