The invention discloses a steel trestle abutment which comprises abutment steel pipe piles, abutment supports, abutment distribution beams, abutment steel panels and abutment guardrails, the number of the abutment steel pipe piles is two, and the abutment supports are fixedly connected to the upper portions of the two abutment steel pipe piles respectively; the two abutment supports are fixedly connected with the abutment distribution beam; the bridge abutment distribution beam is fixedly connected with a bridge abutment steel panel; a bridge abutment guardrail is arranged on the bridge abutment steel panel; soil retaining plates are arranged on the peripheral surfaces of the sides, close to the water bank, of the two abutment steel pipe piles; a self-balancing pressing plate is fixedly connected to the lower portion of the soil retaining plate, and two brackets are fixedly connected to the lower portion of the self-balancing pressing plate. The side, away from the water bank, of the abutment steel panel is connected and fixed to the trestle body. The self-balancing device has the advantages of being reasonable in structure, high in stability and capable of balancing lateral soil pressure borne by the bridge abutment steel pipe pile through soil pressure borne by the self-balancing pressing plate and vehicle loads, achieving self-balancing of the bridge abutment and avoiding the common problem that a conventional steel pipe pile bridge abutment laterally moves.
