The invention relates to a method for tensioning a vertical prestressed steel strand of a concrete continuous beam, which comprises the following steps of: during primary tensioning, sleeving a steel sleeve on the prestressed steel strand between a tensioning jack and a tool anchor so as to improve the biting mark position of the tool anchor on the steel strand; and during secondary tensioning, the steel sleeve is taken down, a tensioning support is arranged below the tensioning jack, it is guaranteed that a bite mark generated on the steel strand during primary tensioning is located above the tool anchor, the tensioning jack pushes the tool anchor upwards, and secondary tensioning is completed. According to the secondary tensioning device, the phenomenon that the steel strand is broken during secondary tensioning can be avoided, and the secondary tensioning quality is guaranteed.
