The glaze comprises the following raw materials: 15-30 wt% of clay, 25-40 wt% of potassium feldspar, 5-15 wt% of calcite, 3-8 wt% of calcined talc, 10-25 wt% of quartz powder and 8-24 wt% of iron oxide. In addition, the invention also discloses a preparation method of the lead-free iron-based metallic glaze. According to the invention, through formula design, the used glaze does not use lead frit, mineral raw materials are used for assisting part of chemical raw materials, and iron is used as a main coloring and devitrification component, so that the iron-based decorative glaze surface with silver metal texture is obtained, the problem of single decorative effect caused by golden color in the prior art is solved, and the service life of the iron-based decorative glaze surface is prolonged.
