The invention provides a porous ceramic prepared from mine solid waste and a method for preparing the porous ceramic by using the mine solid waste, aiming at the problems that the porous ceramic prepared by an organic foam impregnation method is relatively low in porosity, non-uniform in bubble distribution and arrangement size, relatively thin in slurry adhesion thickness and the like. The porous ceramic is prepared by sintering a mixture of ceramic raw materials and additives, the ceramic raw materials comprise iron tailings and waste rock, and the additives comprise a binder, a rheological agent, a dispersing agent, a defoaming agent and a matrix modifier. The porous ceramic material provided by the invention is high in porosity and uniform in pore distribution and arrangement size, and open pores and closed pores can be switched along with temperature; according to the method, pore blockage can be effectively prevented while the adhesion thickness of the slurry is increased, and various properties of the porous ceramic are enhanced.
