Provided is a method for producing a workable zirconia composite sintered body in a shorter time than conventional methods, said workable zirconia composite sintered body maintaining characteristics suitable for dental use and being capable of being mechanically worked in a sintered state. The present invention relates to a method for producing a workable zirconia composite sintered body, which comprises a step for producing a molded body using a raw material composition that contains 78-95 mol% of ZrO2, 2.5-10 mol% of Y2O3, 2-8 mol% of Nb2O5 and/or 3-10 mol% of Ta2O5, and in which the main crystal system of ZrO2 is a monoclinic system, and a step for sintering the molded body.
