The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a cable comprising at least one elongate electrically conductive element, at least one composite layer surrounding the elongate electrically conductive element, the composite layer comprising a nonwoven fibrous material impregnated with a geopolymer material, and at least one polymeric sheath surrounding the composite layer, the method uses a tube of plastic material to facilitate extrusion of the polymer sheath around the composite layer.
