A console apparatus for a vehicle includes a locking unit additionally provided on a console box in a structure in which a console armrest is opened and closed by a friction force of a friction hinge unit, in which the locking unit is not operated in a normal state in which a collision accident does not occur. Therefore, the console armrest is smoothly opened by friction force of the friction hinge unit, and the locking unit operates to lock the console armrest when a collision accident occurs, so that the console armrest remains closed even when the collision accident occurs.
