The invention discloses a basalt cover plate for a railway tunnel and an installation method of the basalt cover plate. The basalt cover plate is characterized in that an installation groove, an installation blind hole and a first through hole are formed in a cover plate body, and the installation blind hole and the first through hole correspond to the installation groove in position; the first connecting plate and the second connecting plate are fixed, a hinge hole is formed in the connecting position of the first connecting plate and the second connecting plate, a hinge rod penetrates through the hinge hole and is fixed to the inner side wall of the mounting groove, and one end of the second connecting plate penetrates through the first through hole and then is fixed to the abutting block. The nut is fixedly embedded in the mounting blind hole, a second through hole is formed in the first connecting plate, a third through hole is formed in the cover plate body, and the bolt is connected with the nut in a screwed mode after penetrating through the second through hole and the third through hole. When the plate face of the first connecting plate is parallel to the plate face of the cover plate body, the abutting block abuts against the inner side wall of the drainage groove. The cover plate body is light in weight, high in strength and good in corrosion resistance; by arranging the abutting piece on the cover plate body, the abutting block can be outwards supported tightly, and it is ensured that the cover plate body cannot be loosened or disengaged.
